Logbuch Archiv | The Travels of Theodor (Doc) Yemenis

The Logbook is more than an archive. It is my memory of the sea, my inner compass — a collection of traces, fragments, and narratives shaped by twenty years of maritime experience. Here, nautical practice merges with poetic reflection and artistic documentation. Every page, every coordinate, every photograph becomes part of a larger story: the search for orientation, both outward and inward.

As I prepare to resume my sailing voyages in the summer of 2026, I have begun revisiting and re-editing my old logbooks. I do not begin at the beginning, but with a later chapter: the journeys through the Cyclades during the summer of 2016.

Before opening this chapter, however, a brief look back at the origins of my maritime travels and the long trajectory that extends from those early years to the present day.

The voyage reports and photographic journals linked here have not been stylistically revised. They remain provisional, fragmentary, and faithful to the immediate spirit of each passage.

Nautike Astrologia - Der Beginn (1995)

1995 erschien im neu gegründeten Hyperion Verlag Thessaloniki meine erste Publikation: der Gedichtzyklus „Nautike Astrologia“ (Maritime Astrologie).

Hier taucht die Metapher der Seereise erstmals als Bild des Lebensweges auf - eine poetische Vision, die in den kommenden Jahren zur realen Praxis werden sollte.

Törnberichte - Sail, Drift and Vision (2016)

Im Sommer 2016 nahm das Projekt „Sail, Drift and Vision“ Gestalt an. Segeln, Driften, Fotografie - diese drei Pole formten die neue Praxis. Ich verbrachte fast drei Monate im ägäischen Meer, segelte von Athen durch die Kykladen:

Von 2007 bis 2011 lebte ich das Projekt Sail and Dive Adventures. Expedition, Abenteuer, das Erkunden neuer Räume standen im Mittelpunkt. Doch danach wandelte sich die Praxis: Die physische Reise verschmolz mit dem künstlerischen Prozess.
